Bluebaum is the European champion

This year’s European Individual Chess Championship has ended with the medal ceremony. The European champion is German Grandmaster Matthias Bluebaum. The second placed is Gabriel Sargissian (Armenia), followed by the third Ivan Saric (Croatia). In the last round, both decisive games for the highest places Sargissian-Santos and Bluebaum-Saric ended in draws. Cheparinov, Yilmaz and Ponomariov made it into the top eight with wins in the last round. The final ranking is therefore: Bluebaum and Sargissian scored 8.5 points, Saric, Cheparinov, Santos, Yilmaz, Ponomariov and Durarbayli scored 8 points.
